Our Story Back To Main
Metro Volunteers is the expert resource center on volunteerism in the metro Denver area. Since our inception in 1994, we have helped transform over 200,000 people and countless communities by matching individuals and groups with meaningful and enriching volunteer experiences.

With the largest collaborative network of nonprofits and volunteers, Metro Volunteers offers the widest range of volunteer impact in the metro Denver area.

We know that through volunteerism you can change yourself and change the world. Our volunteers prove that statement to be true 365 days a year as they share their time and talents by mending fences, painting shelters, building trails, feeding the hungry, and helping where it is needed most.

Accomplishments in 2006:

    -  Hiring four Citizen Action AmeriCorps Members, a Development and Marketing Associate, and a Mentor Recruitment Specialist – increasing our capacity from a staff of nine to a staff of twelve;

    -  Approving a 15% growth in our 2007 budget – moving from $598,300 in 2006 to $689,700 – dramatically increasing our capacity and infrastructure;

    -  Implementing the most successful annual fundraising event in our organization’s history. The Heart of Volunteerism drew more people than we had ever had at one single event, more press coverage than could have been expected and exceeded our revenue projections by over $30,000;

    -  Providing 100,000 prospective volunteers with information on volunteer opportunities at almost 600 community organizations in the region;

    -  Coordinating the efforts of our own internal Impact program resulting in approximately 10,000 hours of service being donated during the year to area nonprofits;

    -  Recruiting, training and placing almost 100 highly qualified and committed individuals who wish to serve on boards of directors and committees; and

    -  Training staff and volunteers from 200 nonprofits targeted at capacity building in volunteer management and board development.
